Employee Monitoring: Watching Personal Cell Phone Use

When employees use their own phone at work, it’s not your issue … right? Maybe you should rethink your answer. What do your employees do with their phones at work is something you just can’t overlook. The moment an employee uses a personal device or phone to read a message, send an email or call someone, your business is at risk. Having your own personal my spy app is very convenient.
Since every mode of communication has gone digital, monitoring employee activity has become critical than ever. Most companies regardless of their size report that they monitor their employee activities including internet use, emails and the use of personal text messages and calls.

The laws generally allow employers to monitor employers’ communication on the job and for a strong reason. No company wants to keep employees that engage in workplace bullying, selling business secrets and even corporate espionage. Monitoring emails, calls and text messages has its own advantages. In fact knowing how much time employees spend on calls and text messages can help you improve your business performance.

Another important concern for businesses is that employees are getting distracted by their phones. It shouldn’t be surprising that you find your workers texting a lot. Moreover, you just cannot take away employee’s phones away when they come to work and hand them back at the end of the day. Sounds unprofessional, right?

Well, most companies do have rules for managing excessive texting; calling, and personal use of cell phones during work hours, but the policy is not enforced correctly. Simply put, your workers would continue to use their phones when no one’s watching them. While at work, all employees are supposed to refrain from excessive personal use of phones and other mobile devices. Remember that talking over the phone, answering phone calls, replying text messages or blogging or tweeting throughout the day regardless of whether the phone or mobile device used is provided by the company or not is a productivity killer. What’s worse is that excessive use of phone and mobile devices is distracting to others.

While employees are expected to limit personal interactions at work, they might not follow the rules. Another important thing is that employees can use their personal phones and mobile devices to steal valuable business information and secrets and use it for personal gains. To spy on cell phone you have to have the right product.

Furthermore, your company reputation may be susceptible to damage as a result of your employee’s bad behavior. Sadly, your coworkers might be sending sexually explicit messages at work and this is not acceptable behavior. Of course, sending a message seems like a private activity, but harassing a colleague by sending malicious text messages and emails is really no different from abusing the worker physically. Also, posting racist, inappropriate comments about a colleague on social networking website (even if it is done as a prank) is a serious offense.

Constant distraction can become an expensive problem for businesses. If your employees fail to concentrate at the task at hand and remain busy texting, calling, emailing or doing anything with their phone or mobile device, your business can never achieve the targets you’ve set in the first place. The use of personal phone or tablet is a major risk if the employee has access to sensitive information about the company, customers and even other employees. An employee can transfer private information via email or text messages and this can be used against your company.

So how do you protect your business from these pitfalls? Well, the solution centers along smart employee monitoring. Ensuring that every personal device owned by the employee is not used against the company can save you from great deal of trouble. How to spy on someone is a main concern for many.
