How to Use iOS Safety Features and Monitoring Software to Protect Your Kids

So you’re thinking about giving your child an iPhone or an iPad. The iOS family offers a fantastic array of devices that are perfect for your child’s first phone (and your latest phone). Between an intuitive layout and a strong operating system, iPhones and iPads offer a frustration free way for kids to play educational games, call you, and so on.

But a phone is a phone (and a tablet is a tablet). It’s all too easy for kids to stumble upon age inappropriate material. Plus, it’s a dangerous world. It’s important to keep your eyes on your kids whenever you can.

By using iOS safety features and cell phone monitoring software, you can keep your kids safe without breaking a sweat. Here’s how to use both effectively to protect your kids.

The Ins and Outs of iOS Safety Features
Parental controls are key. And enabling parental controls is a simple process.

First, go into your child’s iPad or iPhone’s Settings app. Then visit the General area. Scroll down and you should see a field that says Restrictions. Open it up. You’ll then be asked to ‘Enable Restrictions’. Go ahead and do this. You’ll need to set a 4-digit restrictions passcode so make sure it’s something you can easily remember or have written down somewhere out of reach from your child.

You’ll then have the ability to turn off access to various apps as well as certain features of the iPhone such as installing apps, using a spy camera for iPhones or making in-app purchases. You can also do things like block certain websites or only allow specific sites only. You can disable restrictions at any time but only when you re-enter the passcode you just set so make sure you remember it and your kids don’t know.

Apps that are restricted won’t show up on your child’s phone, so they won’t even know they’re there, making it easy for you to avoid tempting your child with the app.

Monitoring Software
Installing monitoring software is key too, even when your child is under the age of six. Even if your child isn’t leaving the house on her own, it’s still important to keep an eye on her online activity so you won’t discover too late that she’s encountered age inappropriate content.

This is where monitoring software comes in handy. Like the kinds of software your work computers have on them, putting a worry free cell phone tracker app on your child’s cell phone can help make sure they’re using their cell phones properly.

Monitoring software can go one step further than phone restrictions- you can disable features on your child’s iPhone or iPad remotely, making it simple to keep your child from accessing inappropriate content even when you’re not nearby.

You can also see exactly what your child is doing at any given point and time. You can see the texts they’re sending, the websites they’re browsing, the videos they’re watching on YouTube and so on. This can be one of the best ways to get a sense for what your child is really up to. Combining texting spy app software and restrictions not only prevents your child from viewing scary, profane content but monitoring software also allows you to see what’s really going on, even if your child doesn’t go to you first.

IOS devices can be a fantastic first phone (or tablet) for your children. But you still need to take safety measures in order to make sure your kids are able to use their devices safely and you can supervise them while they’re using their iPhones or iPads. A smart parent is an informed parent. These are all safety measures you can take right now without having to break a sweat.
